In addition to letters of thanks from Junior Partners,
Partners Mentoring Program has received many letters from
parents and from Senior Partners, expressing their thanks
and sharing their thoughts on the partnerships. Below
are a few samples of these heartwarming letters. |

Partners,
My son's friendship with his senior partner has been a blessing.
He's grown a lot over these past months and his counselor and
teachers have attributed much of these positive changes directly
to his friendship. Having another adult who is emotionally available
and supportive is priceless, just as all the children who get
to benefit from the Partners program are.
Thank you for all you've done. Thank you from the bottom of
my heart,
One Single Mother
Dear Partners Board and Staff,
Six years ago this summer I was "matched" with my junior partner
Marnie through Partners Mentoring Program. Although we have not
stayed active in the organization, we have continued a very
solid, important relationship through those six years. Even
a change in jobs and move to Denver on my part have not kept
us from calling, visiting and keeping close. The partnership
has grown into a loving friendship with her and her family.
Marnie graduated from Boulder High in June and I was one of
the proud family and friends in the stands (sitting with her
parents and brother). I never miss and opportunity to spread
the word about Partners, and I thank you for bringing Marnie
and me together. I know that we will always be a special part
of each others lives.
Sincerely,
Grace
Denver, CO
What do you get when you mix a 12 year old kid who hates
school and the world, with a 32 year old software engineer who
likes to explore new things and is very active? When Christopher
first met his mentor he was not impressed. Nothing impressed
Christopher. When Todd met his new young friend he knew right
away this was going to be a challenge...the kid didn't know
how to dream. When you spend 3 hours a week for a year with
a young person, things happen. You get a glimpse of their life.
They get a glimpse of yours. Things happen. You look at your
surroundings differently. You have a new appreciation of everything.
Todd kept searching for that something that would make Chirstopher's
eyes sparkle. He worked at having fun and sharing his world
with his young friend -- and one day it happened. Christopher
discovered hockey. He discovered that he was good at hockey.
He quickly dicovered how loving a sport could positively influence
your life. Christopher's grades began to improve. As a reward,
Chirstopher won a one hour flight over Boulder County. Then
something else happened. With only one hour of flight, at the
ripe old age of 14, Christopher fell in love with airplanes.
In 1998, Christopher graduated Valedictorian of his class
at Horizon High School and entered the Air Force Academy in
Colorado Springs. He does fly. He still loves hockey. He loves
to study and he enjoys life. Todd is his best friend. What do
you get with a mix like that? You get the chance to share your
life and make a difference.
We would love to hear your story! If you have one that you
would like to contribute, please contact
us.
Here's what some of the people involved in the Partners program
have said about us.
"I can't thank you enough for bringing a Senior Partner
into my son's life. I have seen a remarkable improvement in
his school performance in these past eight months. He is really
motivated to learn! Because I work full-time, it was difficult
for me to give my son the attention he needed. Now that his
Senior Partner has entered the picture, he has another adult
who is caring and supportive. That has made all the difference."
Sincerely, A Single Mother
"I never miss an opportunity to spread the word about
Partners! The one-to-one friendship I have with my Junior
Partner is such a rewarding way to volunteer my time, because
I know I am truly making a significant contribution in a child's
life
Thank you for bringing my Junior Partner and me
together. Our Partnership has grown into a relationship built
upon trust, respect and genuine affection for one another.
I know we'll always be a special part of each other's lives."
Sincerely, a Senior Partner
"I was nervous at first, meeting my Partner. But then
I found out that he likes the same things that I do - baseball,
basketball, video games. You know, my Partner believes in
me and that helps me believe in myself. That's the biggest
thing."
A Junior Partner
"My Partner is my best friend. I know I am going to
be okay because of her influence in my life."
A Junior Partner
"My son has grown a lot over these past months and his
counselors and teachers attribute much of the positive change
directly to his Partnership. Having another adult who is emotionally
available and supportive is priceless."
A Single Mother
"The youth I refer unanimously report that having a
Partner has been extremely meaningful in their lives."
